Strive Bookstore is relocating, but it’s not going far.
The independent, Black-owned bookstore is in the process of moving a block down Nicollet Mall, from the Young-Quinlan Building to the Medical Arts Building.
Strive founder Mary Taris is planning a soft opening on May 13 in the new space, according to the Minneapolis Downtown Council, whose Chameleon Shops program helped launch the bookstore in 2022.
Strive's new store at 825 Nicollet Mall will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The B Suite will expand into Strive's former store at 901 Nicollet Mall. The neighboring coworking space geared toward Black professionals also got its start through the Downtown Council inatitive in late 2024.
The recently revamped Chameleon Shops program will bring four additional women-owned small businesses to downtown Minneapolis this summer.
