A prime storefront in the North Loop is up for grabs following the sudden closure of Outdoor Voices.

The athleisure brand closed all 15 of its stores over the weekend, including a North Loop shop at the corner of Third Avenue North and Second Street North, which opened less than two years ago.

The New York Times, Axios and other news outlets reported last week that Outdoor Voices stores across the country were slated to close on Sunday. Employees were informed last Tuesday that Outdoor Voices is transitioning to an exclusively online business.

“Outdoor Voices took a big bet with prime locations in many of the country's fastest-growing cities, but the storefronts were short-lived, some lasting only a year or two,” Axios said in its report. A flagship store in Austin, Texas closed before all of the other locations, following months of massive markdowns.

Everything was 50% off in Outdoor Voices stores through the weekend to clear as much inventory as possible. There wasn’t much left inside of the North Loop store by Monday afternoon.

Open Voices opened in the Colonial Warehouse building, 212 N. Third Ave., next to Sweetgreen and across from competitor Lululemon in October 2022.

Minneapolis-based Element Commercial Real Estate handles retail leasing in the building, whose tenants also include MartinPatrick3, Statement Boutique, and The Loupe.

Element broker JoAnna Hicks declined to comment but said she's "very bullish about North Loop retail."
